Millennium Hotel, Mayfair, London

The 5-star Millennium Hotel—Carpenter's "home base" for six days and five nights—enjoys one of London's finest addresses, opposite the American Embassy overlooking the lush greenery of Grosvenor Square in aristocratic Mayfair. Its Georgian facade has the discreet charm of an exclusive private residence, and with good reason: the building dates to the 1700's when it was the mansion of the Duchess of Kendal, and was witness to history as the spot where Wellington's victory over Napoleon at the Battle of Waterloo was announced.

Yet the Millennium has all the desirable 21st century amenities. Its public spaces are elegantly and tastefully appointed, and all have WiFi internet service. The hotel offers a 24-hour Business Center and a well-equipped Fitness Suite. Suites are soothing havens combining soft colors and warm, traditional furnishings. Amenities include pay movies, hairdryer, mini bar, iron and ironing board, daily maid service, tea and coffee making facilities, internet access and air conditioning. Most rooms overlook Grosvenor Square or Grosvenor Mews.

Carpenter guests will be assisted by a Carpenter Hospitality Desk at the hotel, and receive a welcome information packet including a city map. We will enjoy a special Welcome Dinner/Reception on our first evening, a Gala Farewell Reception and Dinner on our last evening, and every day will begin with a full buffet English Breakfast, the perfect start to a day of exploration. Guests planning their free time will find that the Millennium is conveniently close to a great many of London’s main attractions, including Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, the shops of Oxford Street, the boutiques of Bond Street and the theater district.
