Would you like to experience even more Alaskan excitement? No problem ... we've arranged for you to be able to spend an additional five days and nights exploring the Alaskan mainland. If you opt for this extension, you'll have an additional two days to explore Alyeska and the Anchorage area. You'll also experience the natural beauty and splendor of Denali National Park, home to Mount McKinley and the Kenai Fjords National Park. Depending on the dates of your cruise, you will either begin or end your extension trip in Fairbanks, offering you another glimpse at Alaska's unforgettable interior territory.
You will experience Alaska's wilderness the "up close and personal" way as you enjoy one of the most beautiful train rides in the world aboard the McKinley Explorer Luxury rail. With its restored Budd railcars - "the smoothest ride in Alaska", the McKinley Explorer offers scenic delights that can only be seen by train! They boast more glass than any other railcars in service today ... and with their unique, forward-facing glass enclosed viewing platforms, you'll enjoy a different perspective on the wonders that lie ahead!
Your Hotels
Alyeska - Located approximately 1 hour southeast of Anchorage, you'll stay at the award-winning Alyeska Prince Hotel. This chateau-style hotel features spacious guest rooms that will serve as a wonderful "home away from home" while you enjoy the activities we have planned for you.
Denali National Park - At the base of Mount McKinley lies the Park, and the award-winning McKinley Chalet. Everything's bigger in Alaska, including the greeting you'll receive in the hotel that offers upscale rooms in a wilderness setting. Just one mile from the Park entrance, the Chalet features a beautiful forest setting and offers comfortable accommodations with modern amenities.
Fairbanks - In Fairbanks, you'll either be resting with anticipation as you begin your adventure, or enjoying your last night in the Alaska wilderness. Either way, you'll be treated to the comfort of the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel. Having recently completed a $34 million renovation, the Westmark offers spacious guest rooms with a variety of amenities.
Itineraries are based on the date of your primary cruise - If you are taking part in either Cruise 1or 3, you will depart from Fairbanks before your cruise date
for Cruise 2, you will depart from Seward after completing your cruise, and return to your gateway city from Fairbanks.
With the exception of the order in which you travel to each destination, a slight change in the itinerary (and a few minor details), all three extension trips are virtually the same.
